CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO. 2009-72
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A MINNESOTA BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL
RESOURCES CLEAN WATER FUND GRANT APPLICATION FOR THE
LORETTO STORM WATER TREATMENT WETLAND
WHEREAS, the Pioneer -Sarah Creek Watershed Management Commission
(Commission), the City of Loretto, and City of Medina wish to construct a storm water
treatment wetland at the Loretto Ball Fields; and
WHEREAS, the intention of the project is to provide a calculable reduction in
phosphorous loads reaching Lake Sarah, which is impaired for excess nutrients; and
WHEREAS, to construct this project the partners wish to pursue funds from the
Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) Clean Water Fund grant in the
amount of $318,000; and
WHEREAS, the partners will need to provide a 25% grant match, which can be
in the form of cash and cash value for in -kind services.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Medina
approves the submission of a grant application to pursue BWSR Clean Water Fund funds
for the Loretto Storm Water Treatment Wetland in partnership with the Pioneer -Sarah
Creek Watershed Management Commission and the City of Loretto of which an equitable
25% grant match will be determined.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Johnson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Smith, Johnson, Crosby, Siitari
And the following voted against same: (Absent: Weir)
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
