HomeMy Public PortalAbout10/13/1956MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA HELD: SATURDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1956 Present: Acting -Mayor Commissioner Stewart B. Iglehart Commissioner Henry V. Pope It William Koch, Jr. Town Clerk J. R. Fountain The minutes of the meeting held on September 8, 1956 were read, adopted and approved. Town Clerk J . R. Fountain reported bank balances as follows as of Sept. 30, 1956: General Fund $6,992.55 Water Fund 6,718.17 Depreciation Fund 2,486.55 Payments from the Water Fund during September, 1956 were on checks #79, 80, and 81 and totaled $643.42. Payments from the General Fund were on checks numbered 2402 through 2428 inclusive and totaled 621821.73. All of the above payments were unanimously approved. After a motion had been made, seconded, and approved and passed, unani- mously for the Town to rent a police car from Pitts' Car Rentals, Inc. at 079.87 per month, Town Clerk Fountain was instructed to contact Pitts' Car Rentals and place on order the appropriate chevrolet. This, Town Clerk Fountain agreed to do. The Commissioners also stated that they did not see any need for the Town having more than one (1) car for police duty, except from December 15 through May 15.-and they requested that Mr. Fountain inquire and see if the price quoted by Pitts' Car Rentals would still prevail for just the seasonal period. The Commissioners agreed that Town Clerk Fountain should get the prices from several radio firms for the new auto radio. The Acting - Mayor, Stewart B. Iglehart, appointed the following men to serve on the Town Planning Board: Commissioner Henry V. Pope William F. Koch Mr. William LaPorte Mr. Curtis H . Dodson Town Clerk Fountain was instructed to notify each man of his appoint- ment. T he Commissioners unanimously approved the plan for the Town to use the ordinances of Boca Raton and Palm Beach to codify the TownIs Ordinances. Town Clerk Fountain was instructed to get copies of the ordinances from Boca Raton and Palm Beach. Commissioner William F. Koch gave a short report on the unity organi- zation meeting for the establishment of a South Palm Beach County District. He stated that Commissioners from the towns in this area were meeting so as to co- ordinate there efforts in getting better county roads, beach facilities, and general recognition for the sou- thern portion of Palm Beach County. The Commissioners approved the purchase of enough Bermuda grass seed to cover the filled -in area west of the Town Hall. Commissioner Koch made a motion, seconded by the Acting -Mayor Stewart Iglehart, that the salary of Melton Partin be increased from 1275.00 per month to $$300.00 per month, beginning Nov. 1, 1956.
