A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD FINDING
THAT A PUBLIC PURPOSE WOULD BE SERVED BY APPROVING A FINANCIAL
SUBSIDY IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,000 FOR THE SPECIAL NEEDS DAY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood with the adoption of Resolution 2009.242 has
proclaimed the last Sunday in February as Special Needs Day; and
WHEREAS, the parents of Special Needs children and members of the
Lynwood Block Watch organization wish to raise community awareness of the children
with special needs by providing a fun-filled event on Sunday, February 27, 2011; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood would like to promote
community awareness concerning the issues of special needs children by
acknowledging their hardship through honoring children with a Special Needs Day,
charitable and similar activities in Lynwood that yield a appropriate public purpose,
consistent with the provisions of the California, Article XVI, sec.6; and
WHEREAS, funds are available in the City Council's discretionary fund account
in the amount of $2,000; and
WHEREAS, it is determined that Special Needs Day serves a justifiable and
substantial public purpose within the mission of the City of Lynwood.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council finds that the above recitals are true and correct.
Section 2. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to transfer
$2,000 from the City Council discretionary fund to the Recreation & Community
Services special event account.
Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its
adoption.
Section 4. That the City Clerk shall certify as to the adoption of this
Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 1S day of February, 2011.
