Grant AppMember Weir introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2010-04 RESOLUTION SUPPORTING A MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES COMMUNITY CONSERVATION ASSISTANCE GRANT APPLICATION WHEREAS, the City of Medina desires to create an open space development/conservation design ordinance to guide development in a way that conserves the community's natural habitat and protects its natural resources; and WHEREAS, the City has recently prepared an Open Space Report that is a reference document to the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan and will be used as a tool to create an open space/conservation design ordinance for the community; and WHEREAS, the City will utilize a recently updated Natural Resources Inventory, Minnesota Land Cover Classification System, and Wetland Functions and Values Assessment to create an open space/conservation design ordinance; and WHEREAS, the City contains significant land cover within the Metro Conservation Corridor and encompasses regionally significant ecological areas as well as MCBS sites of biodiversity significance; and WHEREAS, the City and its partners are dedicated to providing at least a 25% grant match, which may be in the form of cash and/or cash value for in -kind services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Medina approves the submission of a grant application to pursue DNR Community Conservation Assistance funds for the creation of an open space/conservation design ordinance.
