ORDINANCE NO. 6-62
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE IV, CHAPTER 3, SECTION 8, SUB SECTIONS
RELATING TO "MINIMUM SIZE PIPE" AND "CONSUMER'S PIPING" OF THE
ORDINANCES OF MOAB CITY, 1958, AND DECLARING THAT THE ORDINANCE
IS A MEASURE NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PEACE, HEALTH AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF MOAB, AND SHALL TAKE EFFECT UPON ITS PASSAGE AND
PUBLICATION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOAB, UTAH:
THAT Title IV, Chapter 3, Section 8, Sub Sections relating to "MINIMUM
SIZE PIPE" and "CONSUMER'S PIPING" of the Revised Ordinances of Moab City,
1958 be, and the same are, hereby amended to read in words and figures as follows:

MINIMUM SIZE PIPE
Except as herein otherwise specifically provided, all fuel piping
and openings shall be 3/4 incho or larger except for gas refriger-
ators, Bunsen Burners, radiant fire heaters or small movable
appliances requiring less than 25 cubic feet per hour gas input. In
no case shall the pipe size be less than 1/2 inch in which case the
maximum run shall not exceed 30 feet. Short runs not exceeding
10 feet may be allowed of pipe less than 1/2 inch to very small
appliances with the approval of the Gas Utility Company, PRO-
VIDED HOWEVER 3/8 inch or larger copper tubing measure by
outside diameter will be permitted for trailer houses and mobile
homes."
CONSUMER'S PIPING
A. Consumer's piping starts at the outlet side of the gas
meter.
B. Residential consumer's piping from the point of delivery
shall not be less than one (1) inch in diameter unless otherwise approv-
ed by the Gas Utility Company.
C. Only one bushing may be used to effect one change in pipe
size. Use of two or more bushings in series is prohibited.
D. The use of unions in concealed locations is prohibited.
E. Outlets to waterheaters and gas ranges shall not be less
than three -fourths (3/4) inch pipe size and all outlets for central heating
plants shall not be less than one (1) inch pipe, PROVIDED HOWEVER,
that 3/8 inch or larger copper tubing measure by outside diameter
will be permitted for trailer houses and mobile homes.
F. In no case shall the size of piping be less than the inlet
connection of any gas appliance or fixture.

THAT the City Council finds and declares that it is necessary for the
immediate preservation of the peace, health and safety of this City that
this Ordinance take effect upon its passage and publication.
Passed by the unanimous vote of all members present of the City
Council of the City of Moab, Utah, this day of May, 1962.
