INTERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX AND THE
BOROUGH OF CARTERET PROVIDING FOR THE MILLING AND RESURFACING
OF EAST CHERRY STREET
WHEREAS, the Interlocal Services Act, NJ.S.A. 40:8A-1 et seq., encourages counties and
municipalities to enter into contracts for the joint provision of services in order to effectuate
economies in government costs to reduce property taxes and provides legal authority and
procedures to effectuate such agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County of Middlesex (the "County") and the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough))) arc desirous of entering into such an Interlocal Services Agreement providing for the
milling and resurfacing afEast Cherry Street; and
\VHEREAS, this agreement will effectuate economy by coordinating the milling and resurfacing
of said roadway;and
WHEREAS, in accord with N.J.S.A. 40:8A-4, said proposed contract is available and open to
public inspection at the Office of the Carteret Municipal Clerk, Carteret Municipal Building, 61
Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, between the hours of8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret as follows:
I. That the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the proposed
Interlocal Services Agreement with the County of iVIiddlesex providing for the
milling and resurfacing afEast Cherry Street as detailed in said Agreement and in
a fornl acceptable to the Borough Attorney.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution with original signatures and the Borough
Seal, along with three executed copies of the aforementioned Interlocal Services
Agreement, be forwarded to David R. Campion, Director of Public \Vorks,
Middlesex County.
