SUPPORTING SENATE BILL S-1903
WHEREAS, Senate Bill S-1903, released by the Senate Law and Public Safely
Committee, would pennit service of beer and wine by certain restaurants; and
\VHEREAS, as such, 8-1903, would create a new alcoholic beverage license, a
"restricted restaurant license", which would be issued to restaurants that wish to sell beer
and wine, the restaurants would be pemlitted to sell beer and wine only in connection
with the service of food at tables, for consumption only at the restaurant; and
\VHEREAS, as such, S-1903, would require that persons who serve the wine or beer in
these restaurants would be required to be 18 years of age or older; and
"'lIEREAS, as such, 8-1903, would require that the fee for the restricted restaurant
license be fixed by the municipality in which the licensed premises are situated at 75% of
the fee for a plenary retail consumption license; and
\VHEREAS, as such, SM 1903, would not restrict the number of restricted restaurant
licenses pennitted in any municipality provided the municipality's ordinance permits the
sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages
\VHEREAS, the New Jersey League of ?vlunicipalities strongly supports S-1903 as
released and has requested that all of its members go on record similarly supporting the
same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
ofCarteret, County oflvfiddlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows:
I. That the Borough of Carteret hereby supports Senate Bill S-1903 released
by the Senate Law and Public Safety Committee,
2. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the New Jersey League of
Municipalities.
