CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.2011-11
RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING AND HONORING FORMER FIRE CHIEF
HERBERT M. KOCH FOR DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF MEDINA
WHEREAS, Herbert M. Koch retired from the Loretto Volunteer Fire
Department (VFD) on February 10, 2011, after 32 years of service to the Medina
Community; and
WHEREAS, Herbert M. Koch served as the Assistant Fire Chief for 16 years and
as the Chief for 13 years during his tenure on the Loretto VFD; and
WHEREAS, Herbert M. Koch provided years of leadership to the Loretto VFD
spearheading major accomplishments during his time with the department from 1979 to
2011, including:
• Assisting with the construction of the current Loretto Fire Station.
• Leading the implementation of the first medical response to the Loretto fire
service area.
• Implementing modern day fire training for the Loretto VFD.
• Providing leadership on the day to day operations of a privately owned fire
department; and
WHEREAS, the lengthy service of Herbert M. Koch demonstrated his
commitment and passion for protecting the lives and property of Medina residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Medina
recognize and commend the leadership and dedication of Herbert M. Koch for his efforts
to bring professional fire services to the City of Medina over the last 32 years.

The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by member
Pederson upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
