Home My Public Portal About07/05/1952Minutes of the Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida held at the Town Hall on Saturday, July 5th,1952 at 10 a.m., to sit as Board of Eaualization and to attend to such other matters as may come before this meeting. Present: Mayor Commissioner L.Seton Lindsay, Commissioner S.B.Igle- hart and Town Clerk Commissioner Wm.J. Bauer. The minutes of the meeting held on June 9th,1952 were read. Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes were approved and ordered filed. The Commissioners approved the payment of the attached list of bills paid by check numbers #1082 to 1097 inclusive. It was reported to the meeting that 3,504,000 gallons of water had been furnished to the Town of Gulf Stream by the Gulf Stream Golf Club during the month of June 1952 for which the Town was to pay the Gulf Stream Golf Club $420.48. The resale of water to individuals amounted to $782.10 The Town Clerk also reported that during the month of June (2) General Contractor Licenses had been issued, for $100.00 and (4) building permits amounting to $200.00 Mention was made of securing Fire Protection from the City of Delray Beach which would mean an increase in cost of Fire Protection. This matter was tabled for later discussion. I The Commissioners present at this meeting approved the recommendation by the Mayor that a copy of Audit for the 12 months ended May 31,1952 showing Revenue and Expense, be mimeographed and mailed to all Tax Payers and Voters as was done last year. A Tentative Budget was presented and approved by the Commissioners present at this meeting, as per list attached. A discussion was held that the Town of Gulf Stream had been charging a license fee for General Contractors in the amount of $25.00, the same as the City of Delray Beach. The Commissioners present voted that hereafter the Town of Gulf Stream should charge the amount of 050.00 as set up in the Code of Ordinances. On a new building or project this license would cover all sub contractors. The Town Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, meeting at the Town Hall in Gulf Stream, Florida on the 5th,7th and 8th day of July 1952 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 noon, as a Board of Equalizers to examine the Tax Assessment Roll for 1952 as submitted to it by the Town Tax Assessor and to equalize values based upon any Tax Payers complaint. Present at said meeting, Town Commissioners, L.Seton Lindsay, S.B.Iglehart and Wm.J.Bauer. The Town Tax Assessor presented the total assessed valuation of property within the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida for the year 1952 and the following valuations as shown on the 1952 Town Tax Roll. Total Value of All Real Estate and Improvements for 1952 Total valuation of all real estate and improvements $136022219.00 Homestead Exemptions $9,300.00 Lands held under Town Tax Sale Certificates none Total V..lue of Real Estate and improve- ments less Homestead $1,5122919.00 $1,602,219.00 After reviewing the Tax Roll and the Assessed Valuations as shown thereon and submitted to the Town Commission sitting as a'Board of Equalizers by the Town Tax Assessor, the following resolution was offered for adoption. WHEREAS, the Town Commission met as a Board of Equalizers at the Town Hall in the Town of Gulf Stream, on the 5th,7th and 8th of July 1952 and at said meeting heard all complaints by Tax Payers in reference to the assessed valuations placed on the Assessment Roll by the Town Tax Assessor, and it was found that the-Tax Assessment Roll as prepared by the Tax Assessor was fair, reasonable and just, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that said real estate tax roll for 1952, as submitted by the Town Tax Assessor, be and the same is hereby equalized and adjusted as required by law, and the same is accepted as being fair, just and equal as to valuations. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the above and foregoing resolution was adopted. The above motion was duly seconded by Commissioner Bauer and un- animously adopted. Upon Motion by Commissioner L. Seton Lindsay, seconded by Commissioner S.B.Iglehart and unanimously approved the millage for the year 1952 was set at 8 mills.
