MEMORANDUM DATE: March 6, 2018 TO: The Honorable City Council FROM: Bryan Cook, City Manager By: Cathy Burroughs, Director of Parks and Recreation ~ SUBJECT: PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION ACTIONS -MEETING OF FEBRUARY 21, 2018 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Parks and Recreation Commission actions from their meeting of February 21, 2018 . BACKGROUND: On February 21 , 2018, the Parks and Recreation Commission held their regularly scheduled meeting . ANALYSIS: Following is a summary of actions taken at the February 21 , 2018 Parks and Recreation Commission meeting : 1 . ROLL CALL: Present: Commissioner-Georgino , Rosso , Vance , Chairman Baroldi Absent: Commissioner -None Excused: Commissioner-Vice-Chairman Haddad 2. CONSENT CALENDAR The Parks and Recreation Commission approved the minutes of the January 17, 2018 meeting and received and filed the Monthly Report for January 2018 . City Council March 6 , 2018 Page 2 of 2 3. NEW BUSINESS A. REQUEST FROM CHINESE COORDINATION CENTER OF WORLD EVANGELISM (CCCOWE) FOR RESERVED USE OF THE PERFORMING ARTS PAVILION AND GRASS AREAS AT TEMPLE CITY PARK FOR A PRAYER CONCERT ON SUNDAY, MAY 20, 2018 The Commission approved the request. B. REVIEW OF TRANSPORTATION SERVICES AVAILABLE TO TEMPLE CITY RESIDENTS The Commission received an overview of the various transportation programs available to residen ts including Dial-A-Ride , Recreation Transit , Reduced Fare Bus Pass Sales , and Bus Shelter Maintenance. The Commission recei ved and filed the report. C. ADOPTION OF SENIOR MASTER PLAN The Commission reviewed the draft Senior Master Plan . After discussion and public comment, the Commission recommended adoption of the Senior Master Plan as presented to the City Council. The City Council will consider adoption of the Senior Master Plan on April 17, 2018 . 4. UPDATE FROM PARKS AND RECREATION DIRECTOR A. The Commission received the Parks and Recreation Director's Report for February 2018. CITY STRATEGIC GOALS : Approva l of the Commission actions of February 21 , 2018 furthers the City's Strategic Goal of Citizen Education and Communication. FISCAL IMPACT: This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2017-18 City Budget.
