CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.2011-28
RESOLUTION SUPPORTING HENNEPIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S
NEW REGIONAL 911 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS
FACILITY
WHEREAS, the City of Medina values public safety as a core service of government; and
WHEREAS, reliable emergency communications is a critical component in the delivery of
public safety; and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina receives police dispatch service from the Hennepin
County Sheriff s Office, with over 14,000 police dispatch events handled in 2010 within Medina;
and
WHEREAS, the Hennepin County Sheriff s Office currently provides dispatch to 36
entities across Hennepin County from a 60 plus year -old building in Golden Valley scheduled to be
replaced in 2012/2013 with a new facility on county -owned property in Plymouth, adjacent to the
Adult Correctional Facility at Parkers Lake; and
WHEREAS, the new Hennepin County Sheriff's Office emergency communications
facility is important to public safety.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina, that
the City of Medina supports the construction of a new Hennepin County Sheriffs Office Regional
911 Communications Facility; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that due to the regional nature of this project, the City of
Medina encourages the Minnesota State Legislature and Federal Elected Officials to support this
project through state bonding and state and federal grants.

Martinson and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Crosby, Martinson, Pederson, Siitari, Weir
And the following voted against same:
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
