Jones Clerk- Treasurer GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL & PARK BOARD OF COMMISSIONER SPECIAL SESSION TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2003 7:00 P.M. CITY HALL The Greencastle Common Council and Park Board of Commissioners met in Special Session Tuesday, April 29, 2003, 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. Mayor Michael called the meeting to Order at 7:00 p.m. On the Roll Call, the following were found to be present: Councilor Roach, Councilor Sedlack, Councilor Liechty and Councilor Rokicki. Park Board Members present: Leslie Hansen, Tim Trigg, and Becky Harlan. Also present was Park Director Rod Weinschenk. Councilor Hammer was late arriving at 7:05 p.m. Joy Marley presented information to the Boards regarding a grant for People Pathway Phase V, Sports Park Loop. Mrs. Marley stated People Pathway is looking into a DNR Recreational Trails Grant. The grant is 80/20 with a four to six week turnaround for reimbursement. The Sports Park Loop of the pathway is a one and one quarter mile, ten foot wide loop around the sports park. Mrs. Marley stated that there are two shelters at the south end of the park that are not being used at this time. With the grant money they would like to include a small parking lot, drinking fountain and bike rack that will open this part of the park up for use with the new trail. If the grant is approved construction could begin in the summer or fall of 2004. Big Walnut Sports Park has donated 3.11 acres (@$8,000.00 per acre) which can be used as part of the 20% match and the Redevelopment Commission has donated $15,000.00 to complete the match. Mayor Michael stated she has discussed this with CACFID and they have stated they would be willing to loan money, if needed. Councilor Rokicki made the motion to authorize CT Jones to write a letter in support of the project and move forward, seconded by Councilor Hammer. Vote was unanimous. Park Board of Commissioners passed Resolution 2003 -4 -21, which was read by Leslie Hansen.
