AUTHORIZING THE 2010 SEWER REBATE PROGRAM IN THE BOROUGH
OF CARTERET
\VHEREAS, the Borough of Carleret established a sewer user fee ordinance for
the purpose of covering the cost of the Borough's sewer system; and
\VHEREAS, the Mayor and Council desire to implement relief to the senior
citizens, pemlanently and totally disabled residents and veterans or their surviving
spouse in the form of a $100.00 sewer rebate for the 2010 calendar year; and
\VHEREAS, the following conditions have to be met in order to qualifY for the
$100.00 sewer rebate program:
1. The property must be occupied as of January 1,2010 as a single-fhmily
residential unit.
2. Property ta.'(es and sewer user fees are not in arrears and must be current
as of the date of their application.
3. The rebate application must be filed with the tax collector's office on or
before October 1, 20 f O.
4. Veterans who were honorably discharged with proper DD214.
5. \Vidows of Veterans with honorable discharge papers spouse's Death
Certificate, on income requirement, no age limits.
6. Senior Citizens must be 65 years of age or older by December 31, 2010.
Adequate proof of age must be supplied; no income requirement.
7. Pennanently and Totally Disabled residents with Social Security Award
Certificate or doctor's report of disability, proof of income, or $30,000
less excluding social security with certain exceptions, no age limit.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, that the Tax
Collector implement a2010 Sewer Rebate Program for qualified resident owners
as defined above and subject to the Borough guidelines, issue rebate checks
accordingly and report to the Governing Body of all transactions.
