RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A REVISED
LYfERLOCAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX AND THE
BOROUGH OF CARTERET -2010 iVruNICIPAL MILLING c'< PAVING PROGRAM
\VIIEREAS, the Interlocal Services Act, NJ.S.A. 40:8A-l et seq.) encourages counties and
municipalities to enter into contracts for the joint provision of services in order to effechmte
economies in govemment costs to reduce property taxes and provides legal authority and
procedures to effectuate such agreements; and
WHEREAS, the County of Middlesex (the "County") and the Borough of Carteret (the
HBorough") are desirous of entering into such a revised Interlocal Services Agreement providing
for the milling and resurfacing of various streets within the Borough in conjunction with the
2010 ?vlunicipal Milling and Paving Program; and
\VHEREAS, this agreement will effechlate economy by coordinating the milling and resurfacing
of various Borough streets with the 2010 Municipal Milling and Paving Program; and
\VHEREAS, in accord with NJ.S.A. 40:8AA, said proposed contract is available and open to
public inspection at the Office of the Carteret Municipal Clerk, Carteret Municipal Building, 61
Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, between the hours of8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret as follows:
1. ll1at the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby authorized to execute the proposed
revised Interlocal Services Agreement "~th the County of Middlesex providing
for the milling and resurfacing of various Borough streets as detailed in said
Agreement and in a form acceptable to the Borough Attorney.
2. That a certified copy of this Resolution with original signatures and the Borough
Seal, along with three executed copies of the aforementioned revised Interlocal
Services Agreement, be forwarded to David R. Campion, Director of Public
\Vorks, for processing.
