AUTHORIZING Al~ AGREEi'lIENT BETWEEN THE BOROUGH OF
CARTERET AND THE UREAl'! ENTERPRISE ZONE CARTERET DEZ
HEALTH & WELLNESS PARKING EXPANSION PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Borough of earteeet Urban Enterprise Board unanimously recommend
the adoption of a resolution requesting UEZ project funding for the Health & \Vellness
Parking Expansion Project, an economic development capital project;
WHEREAS, The Borough of Carteret and the Urban Enterprise Board support the VEZ
Health & \Vellness Parking Expansion Project, an economic development, capital
project, which will contribute as a catalyst to the expansion of Carteret's business
districts and redevelopmen~ areas through new business capital investments and
employment opportunities; and
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret and the Urban Enterprise Board has reviewed the
proposed economic development purpose and support the UEl funded Health &
Wellness Parking Expansion Project; and
\VHEREAS, tills funding request for the parking expansion project in the amount of
$500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Dollars, and 00/100) will be funded by Carteret
VEl Account Status balance for June 30, 2010, with a $268,204.74 shortage from the
June 30, 2010 Carteret VEl Account Status Report that will be offset by Carteret VEZ
2"' generation funding, and UEl funding from the VEl Central Account, as outlined in
the September 7, 2010 letter from Kathleen G. Kube, Acting Executive Director; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to NJ.S.52.27H-88 ( c ), in order to fund the project from funds
deposited in the enterprise Zone Assistance Fund, the governing body must adopt a
resolution approving the project and authorizing the submission of the project for
additional funding; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Carteret VEl Board does hereby
authorize and direct the submission of a request in the amount of $500,000.00 to the New
Jersey Urban Enterprise Zone Program for evaluation and approval of the project entitled:
UEl Health & Wellness Parking Expansion Project
To be funded from monies deposited in the Enterprise Zone Assistance Fund and credited
to the account of the Borough of Carteret, said aCcOlUlt maintained by the State Treasurer
for the Enterprise Zone.
