RE80LUTIO�t IDT REGARD TO PERSONAL �'ROPEA.TY TAX,
t�3EREA5, the City Oouncil ,of tne City of Lyn*.aood is
preaently informed of the current circulation of dn initiative
petition having for its ultimate purpose the rer�ova.l from the assess-
ment rolls of pereonal property; and
WFiEREAS, the City Council is apprehensive of tne eifect of
any auch legislation and the reduction of.municipal revenuea which
wroul� follot,r as a result of such 2egislation; and
ti�iNEREAS, the cities of California are at their vaits� end at
the present time to render efPicient raunicipal services to their res-
pective citizens even on the basis of_current revenues; and
WfiEREAS, this Council can aee but t�*o altern�tives in the
event such legislation is adopted, one of which Uiould be the essential
curtailing of municipal services, or the distribution o£ such added
y cost,onto real propert;�, which in the opinion of this Council is already
bearing a very heavy load; and
WHEREt1S, the importance and_ the cliaracter of every city is
denendent to a great degree upon the,land improvements, Uusiness pro-
perties, and residential properties within its boundaries, the inter-
ference �rith which would,seriously iaqaair the city's very existence;
NOW, 2'HEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by tne Gity Council of the
City of Lym�rood, California that said Council ci.oes hereby most reapect-
fully and earneatly reauest, the citizens of said city not to append
" their signatures to any such petition, nor to lend their personal
assistance to any such movement, as this Council is convinced that the
type of legislation so propoaed iaould be inimical to the best interesta
of the City of Lyncaood, and would seriously, interf'ere ��ith its groFrth
