HomeMy Public PortalAbout2011-069 Resolution Authorizing Publication of Ord 509I I II, Member Weir introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption. 11 CITY OF MEDINA I RESOLUTION NO.2011-69 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PUBLICATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 509 BY TITLE AND SUMMARY WHEREAS, the city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 509, an ordinance amending section 320 of the code of ordinances regarding firearms, deadly weapons and fireworks; and WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, subd. 4, allows publication by title and summary in the case of lengthy ordinances or those containing charts or maps; and WHEREAS, the ordinance is seven pages in length; and WHEREAS, the city council believes that the following summary would clearly inform the public of the intent and effect of the ordinance. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk shall cause the following summary of Ordinance No. 509 to be published in the official newspaper in lieu of the entire ordinance: Public Notice The city council of the city of Medina has adopted Ordinance No. 509, an amendment to section 320 of the code of ordinances regarding firearms, deadly weapons and fireworks. The ordinance amends the current code by updating some definitions and adding several new ones. The city is divided into rural areas, where hunting is permitted with limitations, and urban areas where no hunting is allowed. In addition, a portion of the rural area has been designated as a sensitive hunting area in which special administrative rules apply. An application for a license may be denied or, once issued, revoked by the chief of police for a violation of the ordinance. Persons dissatisfied with actions of the chief of police regarding the denial or revocation of a permit may appeal to the city council. The full text of Ordinance No. 509 is available for inspection at Medina city hall during regular business hours. Attest: Douglas S. Reeder, Interim City Administrator -Clerk BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the city council of the city of Medina that the city administrator -clerk keep a copy of the ordinance in his office at city hall for public inspection and that he post a full copy of the ordinance in a public place within the city.
