RESOLUTIOPt OF TfiE CZTY COliNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYIVV100D OPPOSING THE APPLICATION OF THE PACIFIC
ELECTRIC RAILZ:rAY CORPORATIOAI FOP AUTF?ORITY TO
MAKE CERTAIN CHANGES IN ITS RAIL AI�D P�iOTOR COACH
SYSTEZ�1 APID AU`!'FIORIZING THE CITY AT�ORIGEY TO RE-
P;�ESENT THE CITY IN SUCH PF�OCEEDINGS AZD TO OP-
POSE THE DISCOPIZ'INUANCE OF THE SANTA ANA LINE;
i�IHEREAS, the Pacific Electric Railway Corporation has filed
with the Public Utilities Commiasion of the State of California an
application whieh requests, among other things, that said corporation
"diacontinue the operation of this rail passenger service (Santa Ana
Line) without motor coach replzcement except between Los Angelea and
Santa Ana on present �.nd augcnented motor coach lines", and "
tPfiEREAS, it further appears that eaid railroad corporation
proposes to maintain eaid Santa Ana line f'or freight aervice only, and
WfiEREAB, the City of LynFrood and its environs and ite inhabi-
tants have been aerved for over 30 years by.said Santa Ana Line, and
V7fiEREA5, many of the citizena depend for their livelihood
upon the continued maintenance oP said railroad service, and
• WHEREAB, it Purther appears that the proposed motor coach
service is and i�rill be totally inadequate to supply this need which hae
been served by said railway line for so many yeare, and
��II-IEREAS, it appeare by reason of the Poregoing that the City
of Lynwood and its citizens as aforesaid, Vaould be greatly in,jured and
damaged by the proposed diacontinuance, .
DIOFI, TFiEREFORF, the City of Lynsroo� hereby ob,jects to said
proposed discontinuance and authorizes the City Attorney to represent
I the City of Lynwood in any and all hearings bePore the Public Utilities
Commisaion-relating to said discontinuance, to take all steps neceasary
to repreaent said City and its citizens throughout such proceedinge.
The City clerk is authorized. and inatructed to file a certified copy
of these ob,jections with the Public Utilities Com.,misaion of the State
