� A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TAE CZTY
OF LYNWOOD CALLING A 9PECIAL ELECTION PURSUANT
TO AN INITIATIVE PETITION FILED WITH THE CITY
REQUESTZNG THE SAID CITY COUNCIL TO REPEAL
ORDINANCE N0. 440 OR, IN LIEU THEREOF� TO SUB-
- MIT THE QUESTION TO THE VOTE OF THE PEOPLE AT
A SPECIAL ELECTION.
The City Council of the City oP Lynyood doea resolve as
followsi
VPHEREAS the City Clerk of 'Ghe Gity of Lynwood did on
the 28th day of February, 1947, receive a written petition signed by
not lesa than 15� in number of the qualified electors reaidin�.within
said city, which petition Ss in part in worde and Pigures as follows,
to wit: -
"THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DO ORDAIN A3 FOLLO�YSS
Section lt Ordinance No. 440, entitled, !'ORDINANCES OF THE
. CITY OF LYNVJOOD Ih4PO8ING"A LIGEIQSE TAX FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF SELLING
.. TANGIBLE PER30NAL PROPERTY AT RETAIL, PROVIDING FOR PER�'lITS TO
RETAILERS, PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION ATdD PAYING OF SUCH TAX, AND
PRESGRIHINC3 PENALTIES FQR VIOLATIONS �F THE PROVISIONB HEREOF°, adopted
by. the City Council of the Citq of Lynwood, 29th day of Oetober, 1946,
ie hereby repealed,�".and
WHEREA3 the City Clerk of the City of Lynwood did, within
� ten daya after Februarq 28, 1947, examine the register of votera oP
the County of Los Angeles; and
WHEREA9 the sald Clty Clerk has cerLiPied that the signatures
attached to said petition conaiat of more than 15�/o in number of all
the qua.lified eleotora residing in said city, as shown by the register
of voters oP Los Angeles County; and
PIHEREAS the City Gouncil has recseived evidence of the above
. Pacts and hereby fiada that it has ,�urisdiction in the matter;

PRIVILEGE 0�' SELLING TANGIBLE PERSONAL PRQPERTY AT RETAIL� PROVIDING
FOR PERMITS TO RETAILERS, PROVIDING FOR THE COLLECTION AND PAYING
OF SUCH TAX� AND PRE3GRIBINU PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS OF THE PRO-
VI3ION6 HEREOF", passed and adopted bg the City Councll of the City
of Lynwood, 29th da.y of October., 1946, be repealed?
Section 3i At the said epecial election the polls ahall
be open at 7:00 o'clock A. M, and remain open continuouelq untiZ

Section 4: That the City Clerk of the City of Lynwood
be and he is hereby ordered, direeted and empowered to prepare Por
said eleotion and to conduct the aame, and to do a.xiy and all acta
in this aonnection to the end that said proposition may be lawfu]:ly
submitted.
