RESOLUTIUN N0. 2040
R.ESOLUTI9N IN CONFORRANCY WITH ELECTIONS CODE
The City Council of the City oP Lynwood resolves as follov�s:
` That pursuant to the Electiona Code Chapter 3 Article I
Section.l717 the le�islative body may submit an argument against the
ordinance oi not to exceed three hundred words in length. The City Clerk
is herebJ ordered and directed to submit said argument on the ballot.
The following is the argument, to- wit:
ARGUMENT AGAINST REPEAL OF
ORDINANCE N0, 440
To vote "NO° meana that°the aales tax will continue to
five adequate income to meet the City community needs. For example,
by the time you have cast your ballot to vote "NO", the City of Lyn-
wood will have enou$h money derive3 from the eales tax to buy a new
fire engine, yet no one has Pelt the �18,500 cost.
Vote "h'0��;
FOOD IS NOT TAXABLE, therefore, no one must pay the tax
when securing the necessitiea oP life.
Vote "NO".
IMPROVE DRAINAGE. The City of Lynwood will haye to pay
its share. This share will come from salea tax fund reserves and if
' there is no sales tax, there will be no way to pay the ahare other
than through bond issues.
Vote "NO".
INSURE FIRE.PROTECTION. The great eastern section of Lyn-
a�ood has no fire protection. Sales tax money will build and equ3p a
fire station for the east side area.
Vote.°N�°.
INGREASE RECREATION FACILITIES. Hundre3s of people and
organizatlons united and urged the purch�ase and opera.tion of a
community center. 4Githout the salea tax, there will be no youth

� You are assured salea tax money is earmarked exclusively
for public improvement and under the law cannot be apent for anything
else.
