Minutes of the Town Commission, March 9,1943.

A regular meeting of the Tovn Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream,
Florida was held on March 9th,1943.
`he minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Inspector and One Clerk who served as as election board for the
general election held on March 2nd,1943, filed their report with
the Town Commission , which was as follows:

We the Commission of the Town of Gulf Stream, Florida, acting as a
Board of Canvassers for the purpose of examining the returns of the
election held in the Tovm of Gulf Stream, Florida, March 2,1943, do
hereby certify that an examination of the certificate of the clerks
and one inspector of the general election held March 2,194.7, shows the
above results.
We further certify that from the above returns the following persons
have been elected to the Offices respectfully shown opposite their
names.
A motion was made and carried, accepting the above report and de-
claring the results of the election to be as follows.
W.Seward Webb elected to the office of Mayor
Harry i. Edwards " it " " " Vice Mayor
Wm.J.Bauer " it if " " Town Clerk.
Wm.J.Bauer administered the oath to W. Seward Webb, who administered
the oath to W. J. Bauer.
The Commissioners ap,roved the payment of a bill to the Gulf Stream
Golf Club amounting to $11.50 being the cost of cigars given to
C.Y.Byrd Attorney and Chief A.Nelson, for various and sundry favors
rendered to the Town in the past year.
After discussion the Town Commissioners voted to fix the tax millage
for the year 1943 at 1.6 mills.

The Commissioners approved the payment of $70.00 to Town Clerk Bauer,
being salary $50.00, expenses $20.00 for the past year.
The Commissioners ap roved the engaging of someone to clean up the
side of the Boulevard within the Town Limits, of palm tree limbs,
paper and any other unsightly trash.
The Commissioners approved increasing the Town Clerk's salary to
$240.00 per year, or $20.00 er month, commencing March 191943.
The Commissioners approved the investing of Town Money in the purchase
of a $2000.00 Plar Bond. This being done because of surplus cash on
hand and with the thought in mind of aiding the Government of the
United States.
The Commissioners approved en0d3rcing kka penalty at the rate of 6%
per annum on delinguent taxes #or 1943 and thereafter,if not paid
by April lst of the following ,year.
The Commissioners approved engaging C.Y.Byrd, Lawyer to have a new
corrected up to date Charter passed at the next meeting of the Leg-
islature.
