CITY OF MEDINA
RESOLUTION NO.2012-58
A RESOLUTION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNIT AUTHORIZING
FILING OF APPLICATION AND EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT TO
DEVELOP A SPORT FACILITY BY CREATING NEW
OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH BALL FIELD IMPROVEMENTS
UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE HENNEPIN YOUTH SPORTS
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Hennepin County, via the Hennepin Youth Sports Program, provides for
capital funds to assist local government units of Hennepin County for the development of sport or
recreation facilities, and
WHEREAS, the City of Medina as a local government unit (hereinafter LGU) desires to
develop Hamel Legion Park Ball Field Improvements to include ball field lights, irrigation systems,
field conversion, a batting cage, and a scoreboard (hereinafter PROJECT) for the purpose of
increasing the recreational activities at Hamel Legion Park by allowing ball programs to run later
into the evening and creating opportunities for a juniors program for ages 13 and 14 by redesigning
one field to have a grassed irifield.
(LGU):
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Medina
I. The estimated total cost of developing PROJECT shall be $250,000 and
LGU is requesting $100,000 from the Hennepin Youth Sports Program and
will assume responsibility for a match requirement of $150,000.
II. LGU agrees to own, assume one hundred (100) percent of operation costs for
PROJECT, and will operate PROJECT for its intended purpose for the
functional life of the facility, which is estimated to be 40 years.
III. LGU agrees to enter into necessary and required agreements with Hennepin
County for the specific purpose of constructing a sport or recreational facility
and long-term program direction.
IV. That the City Administrator (authorized representative) and/or Mayor of the
City of Medina (LGU) are authorized and directed to execute said
application and serve as official liaison with Hennepin County or its
authorized representative.

and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof:
Crosby, Martinson, Pederson, Siitari, Weir
And the following voted against same:
None
Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
