CITY OF MEDINA RESOLUTION NO.2012-75 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING BID FOR THE LORETTO CREEK WATER QUALITY IMPROVEMENT PROJECT WHEREAS, pursuant to the advertisement for bids for the construction of the Loretto Creek Water Quality Improvement Project, bids were received, opened and tabulated according to law, and the following Base Bids were received complying with the advertisement: New Look Contracting Minnesota Dirt Works Machtemes Construction Matt Bullock Contracting R.L. Larson Excavating Doboszenski & Sons Northwest Asphalt Sunram Construction $266,025.31 $281,418.90 $310,258.60 $313,520.75 $330,665.25 $344,002.60 $360,203.10 $397,954.00 AND WHEREAS, the City received bids, opened and tabulated according to law, the following Alternate Bids; Clearing and Brushing Loretto Creek Machtemes Construction Sunram Construction R.L. Larson Excavating Northwest Asphalt Doboszenski & Sons Minnesota Dirt Works Matt Bullock Contracting New Look Contracting Maintenance Access Road New Look Contracting Northwest Asphalt Doboszenski & Sons R.L. Larson Excavating Machtemes Construction Matt Bullock Contracting Minnesota Dirt Works Sunram Construction $ 4,000.00 $11,200.00 $11,500.00 $11,500.00 $12,000.00 $14,720.00 $15,500.00 $16,180.00 $ 6,697.50 $ 7,587.50 $ 8,700.00 $ 8,715.00 $10,090.00 $10,474.25 $10,560.75 $13,085.00 AND WHEREAS, it appears that New Look Contracting, Inc. of Elk River, Minnesota is the lowest responsible bidder for the Base Bid and the two Alternate Bids; Resolution No. 2012-75 October 16, 2012 AND WHEREAS, the City accepts the bid proposals for the Base Bid and Alternate Bids in the amount of $288,902.81; AND WHEREAS, the City may consider completing the Alternate Bid for Clearing and Brushing Loretto Creek with its own staff to establish an in kind credit of $16,180 for the proj ect; AND WHEREAS, if the City completes the Alternate Bid for Clearing and Brushing Loretto Creek with its own staff, the City would reduce the contract amount to New Look Contractor, Inc. to $272,722.81. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF MEDINA, MINNESOTA THAT: 1. The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with New Look Contracting, Inc. of Elk River, Minnesota in the name of the City of Medina for the construction of the Loretto Creek Water Quality Improvement Project, according to the plans and specifications therefore approved by the City Council per Resolution 2012-50 and on file in the office of the City Clerk. 2. The Project Engineer is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, except that the deposits of the successful bidder and the next lowest bidder shall be retained until a contract has been signed.
